Where From?
- Born and raised Louisville, KY.
- Grew up in the Highlands area, favorite and sometimes one of the more challenging areas to remodel in.
How’d I get here?
- Grew up always admiring how things were made, put together, and the detailed precision required.
- Went to college for engineering and technology, then went to work as a traveling mining process engineer, and finally decided to settle down in one area and shift into the residential construction field in 2016.
Why Construction?
- Problem-Solving: Construction projects often come with challenges— I enjoy the challenge and the sense of accomplishment when it comes to problem-solving in the field. Whether it is finding a creative way to reroute mechanicals or how to integrate multiple design details into a shower tile layout, the hunt for a solution is rewarding.
- Tangible Results: Seeing a project through from concept to finished product, watching cabinets and trim coming together as one small art of a larger story, and witnessing the first looks of the final coat of poly on quarter sawn white oak floors is incredibly satisfying.
- Building Relationships: Residential construction requires a team of trades. All trades must be individually skilled in their own respects, but also driven to care about those who came before him and those to perform after. Working relationally can inspire a higher level of care throughout all stages of the project.
- Variety of Working Knowledge and Skills: Construction is an active field with different tasks and demands a broad range of knowledge. “Jack of all trades, master of none, but often times better than master of one.” With each project, you learn something new, whether it’s mastering a new technique or learning how to better manage timelines and budgets. The constant growth and skill-building can be deeply satisfying.
- I appreciate the opportunity to step inside of someone’s home, their safe space, to make something new or renewed.
